The ArmaGeddonIt Story
By Mrs. Wilson
Having a racehorse has always been a lifelong dream of mine. I’ve followed the racing industry since I was a little girl. Secretariat was my favorite—my number-one horse of all time—and I swore one day I would own a horse just like him.
Over the years I was blessed to buy some outstanding stallions and some truly nice mares. One of my absolute favorites was Black Betty. Then tragedy hit—she ran a post straight through her belly. The injury caused a massive hernia. I rushed her to the vet and was told the kindest thing was to put her down. I refused. I begged, I pleaded, I cried. They told me she’d never be good for anything again and would never carry a foal, but I didn’t care. With a lot of prayer and God’s help, I brought her home and we healed her together.
We live on a little creek in Missouri that turns into a raging river when it floods. Sure enough, one year the water came fast and hard, washing out fences. We rounded up the loose horses in time, repaired everything, and thought the worst was over.
Then life threw another punch.
While doing some remodeling, I accidentally severed several fingers. Suddenly I couldn’t work, couldn’t ride, couldn’t care for the herd. To survive I had to sell almost everything I owned—every horse except Black Betty. Because of her injury, I was terrified someone would buy her just to ship her to slaughter.
Several months later we noticed she was getting huge. I took her back to the vet—the same vet who said she’d never foal—and the ultrasound showed the impossible: Black Betty was pregnant. Somewhere in that flood chaos, before we fixed the fences, my sneaky stallion had gotten to her stall.
Given her past injuries, the pregnancy was high-risk for both mom and baby. The vet said we had nothing to lose, so we went for it… and thank God we did.
On April Fool’s Day—of all days—Black Betty delivered a breathtaking blue roan colt. We named him ArmaGeddon It—“Rastas” for short. He is pure magic, and our whole family fell instantly in love.
Our little miracle baby will turn three on April 1, 2025.
I’ve dreamed of racing him my entire life, but money has always been tight. This year everything changed. A dear friend is starting his professional training in the next few weeks, and Rastas will hit the barrels and the track in the 2026 season.
Calling All Barrel-Racing Fans!
This blue roan colt was born to turn & burn.
